Art & Communication: Animation In The Digital Age

The art of animation can be utilised as a powerful communication tool in the modern era, an evocative medium that can push the very boundaries of visual storytelling.
Learning how to work within this medium can empower storytellers and filmmakers alike, enabling one to explore the myriad creative possibilities of animation.

In this workshop, renowned animation artist and filmmaker Abhishek Verma (Maacher Jhol, Chasni) explains that animation can be an accessible medium that anyone can master.

In his workshop, Verma will introduce participants to practical hands on skills training within the art of animation, while also exploring worldwide trends by screening select excerpts of noteworthy animations.

The session is being organised as part of EarthSync Academy’s ongoing mission to build creative industry infrastructure in India though quality skills development and engagement..

About Abhishek Verma

Abhishek Verma is an animation artist and award winning independent filmmaker. His first animated film Chasni, which documents the plight of an acid attack survivor, was screened at over 30 international film festivals and received 11 awards. His film Maacher Jhol - a hand drawn 2D animated short film about a person confronting acceptance for his sexual identity - will be premiering shortly at the IndiEarth Animation Film Festival 2016.
